Why can't I view the profiles before I sign up?
At Eligon, our member's privacy is a top priority. This site contains public figures, CEO's and senior executives that are highly concerned with their privacy and they wouldn't want their private information to be revealed to the public or any random site visitor. Only after your application is approved and your identity verified would you be able to access the private profiles of our members. Hide
Why must I supply my education and career information during the application process?
As mentioned previously. Eligon.ca was created towards executives and top professionals. To maintain our community's unique atmosphere, we've developed our proprietary screening process. Acceptance to the website is depending on the combination of your income, education and career background information submitted during registration. Hide
Is it safe?
  • Members are legally bound to be Honest
  • Upon successful registration, all members sign a legal agreement declaring that information submitted to Eligon is true.
  • User reporting - Self policing
  • This measure helps us in preventing internet fraud and ensuring authenticity. Every profile and every message dialogue box contains a "report" button allowing users to report abuse, foul play and misrepresentation. Every report will prompt an investigation by Eligon. Legal action will be taken in case of agreement breach.
  • Separation of Private and Public Information
  • We place great value in the privacy of our clients. Sensitive private information is never made available to subscribers, and general profile information is selectively disclosed only to users of the group chosen by the user.
  • User profiles are not accessible to the general public
  • Secure Database and Encryption
  • We use the latest technologies and encryption methods to secure the information collected from our users. We also use SSL protocol/encryption for credit card information.

Who can access the private information I submit during application?

It is important to note that our screening staff is the only one that is able to access this sensitive information. Who can see my profile and photos?

Only selected and relevant members are able to view your profile and photos.

These selected members are all:

  1. People of your socioeconomic group
  2. Candidates whose identity has been verified
  3. Members of the desired gender who are in turn seeking your gender.
  4. Members with a certain level of compatibility.

Who is Eligon for and what are your screening criteria?

This community was established for busy professional singles that have little or no time for conventional dating and are unable to use public dating sites due to the fear of encountering their clients, employees or patients. We're screening our members to gather singles of a similar mindset, background and accomplishments for a greater successful relationship.

We're looking for singles with a higher education and a senior position in their career.

Our screening staff is looking for singles of a similar socioeconomic status and does not evaluate whether applicants are good enough to join the community.

Can I use a fake name, or remain anonymous?
None of the information you provide during the registration is made available to your compatibles. You must submit a real name for ID verification purposes however you may request to display a nickname instead of your first name by contacting us. Hide
Am I obligated to pay for a membership once I accept the agreement?
No, the dating services agreement does not obligate you to pay for a membership. You may choose your membership type after trying our service for 2 days for free. Hide
What is the Eligon compatibility formula?

We operate like a virtual matchmaking agency rather than a dating site matching our members according to a unique compatibility formula developed with the help of Beth Mares, an established Toronto psychotherapists and relationship counsellor with over 20 years experience.

The formula consists of two parts:

  1. An evaluation of an individual's core beliefs and values that are a common source of conflict among married couples.
  2. A computerization of traditional matchmaking practices.

Our original technique of compatibility calculation is a perfect balance of common sense and experience which will increase the chance of meeting one's life companion.

How do I Join?

What information is displayed on my profile and what information remains private?

Profile Information:

First Name, Age, City, Profession, Marital Status, Number of Children, Do you want children, Do you drink, Do you smoke, Religion, Ethnicity, Height, Hair Color, and Eye Color.

Answers to your profile questions: "Things I can't live without", "I respect people that are", "Favourite Books & Movies", "My motto in life", "Ideal vacation place", "In my free time I enjoy", "The ideal day would include", "What I'm looking for in a partner" and "One Sentence about me". Note that only selected and relevant members are able to see your profile.

Private information that is collected for administrative use and compatibility formula includes:

Email, Full Name, Address, Postal Code, Date of Birth, Sexual Orientation, Phone Number, Education location, Degree attained, Income, About your company, and number of employees in the company.

How do you verify my income and the details in the application?

We've created a proprietary Identity verification process that may include a soft-hit credit check which allows us to confirm who the person is filling out the application.

Some details revealed in this check include, full name, address, marital status, place of employment and full contact information.

Due to the fact that we are unable to verify a person's income we utilize the following 2 methods to ensure users provide us with authentic information.

  1. During the registration process all applicants accept a legal agreement declaring that all the information provided is accurate, hence they're legally bound to be honest.
  2. We utilize a self reporting mechanism which allows our users to report any misrepresentation and foul play. If a report is submitted, we'll launch a full investigation and will not hesitate to take legal action if contract breach is discovered.

Do I have to provide a photo?
Even though an extensive emphasis is placed on the content of users' profiles, we also recognize that for many people, physical appearance is an important aspect to finding a compatible partner. Eligon believes that providing a recent photo to show matches makes for a more comfortable selection and identification opportunity; should members decide to meet. It also helps to "break the ice" knowing what your prospective date will look like, rather than wondering if that stranger across the room is the person you've been conversing with online. Hide
What if I don't have an updated photo?

Our professional photographers are available for you to take a series of photos. Simply book an appointment at a specific location. Within 72 hours of your shoot, you'll then be able to upload your favourite photo selection to showcase on the Eligon.ca site.

I just submitted an application, can I edit the details?

If there are details you would like to change on the application submitted, you may simply contact our customer service department and request a modification of the details.

I submitted the application, why did I receive an email asking for more details?
In the event that our screening staff feels they do not have sufficient information to complete the screening process they will contact the applicant with a request for further information instead of just rejecting them. At which point you should write to contact@eligon.ca with a brief description of your professional past, further detail of your education and other relevant information requested. Hide
I just finished registering, when can I access the member's area?
Your application will be reviewed and you should receive a response within 24 hours. In the event of incomplete information on your application you will be contacted with a request for further detail. When approved you will be able to create your profile and access the member's area right away. Hide
I was accepted, what do I do next?
Congratulations. After you're accepted you will be asked to create your profile and upload a picture, then you will be able to access the member's area. The first thing you should do is review your compatibles carefully one by one, as they we thoroughly screened for you. Indicate whether you're interested in getting to know them more at the bottom of their profile. Don't wait for others to contact you, do take initiative and send a brief message introducing yourself. How much does membership cost?

We have 3 different membership types. The longer the duration of the membership the less you pay per month.

  • For a 6 month membership you pay $49 per month
  • For a 3 month membership you pay $59 per month
  • For a 1 month membership you pay $69 per month

*all prices are in Canadian dollars and do not include tax.

What payment methods do you accept?

Why can't I see pictures in the search results?

Eligon is tailored specifically for serious users who are seeking real relationships. Our website differs from other dating websites because the focus remains specifically on the member's profile rather than mere visual cues. In order to view a member's photos, it is essential to first review the associated profile.

I received an email telling me someone's interested in me, what does that mean?

When someone clicks "I'm interested" on the bottom of your profile, you will receive an anonymous email notification. We do this to encourage you to review each one of your compatibles and indicate wither you're interested in them.

When two people indicate that they're interested in one another, they'll receive a notification of a "match".

I received an email telling me that I haven't messaged my compatibles, what does that mean?

This is a notification that there are compatible users with whom you did not initiate contact yet.

I'm not receiving notification of incoming Eligon messages to my email, why?

If you are not receiving notifications via email, it could be for a number of reasons:

  1. Check your spam filters to make sure the email hasn't been misfiled.
  2. Your email host may have rejected the email.
  3. You might have accidentally mistyped your email address.
  4. You have turned off the email notifications on your account subscription preferences.

I want to stop the email notices, how do I do it?

In case you would like to stop receiving notifications and special offers you may click here and log in with your email and password to determine which notifications you want to continue receiving and which ones you would like to stop receiving. If you do not remember your password you can click on the forgot password link to retrieve it.

What are "Daily Profile Credits?"

This is a method inspired by traditional matchmaking agencies to prevent hasty browsing through hundreds of pictures instead of a careful evaluation of each screened compatible. Trial users can view up to 3 profiles per day, while subscribers can view up to 5 per day. Please note that you cannot purchase any additional credits as it is not a means to extract money but rather a means to entice our members to give each profile careful consideration.

I ran out of "Daily Profile Credits", when will they get renewed?

Your daily profile credits will be renewed at mid-night everyday.

What is a "gold membership"?

Gold membership is a FREE one year VIP membership offered to individuals who have demonstrated a commitment to their community. What happens when I indicate I'm interested to get to know someone?

When you click on "I'm interested" on the bottom of a user profile they will receive a notification via email that 'someone' indicated interest in them. This encourages them to review their compatibles again and to indicate their interest. If both of you click "I'm interested" on each other's profile a match will be created and both of you will be notified of it, enabling for an easier communication knowing that the person on the other side shares your attraction.

Can I freeze my membership?

You may freeze 3 and 6 month memberships for a period of up to 3 months. To freeze your membership you may contact our customer service department by clicking here or calling our office 905-532-0717.

I forgot my password, what do I do?

If you do not remember your password you can click on the forgot password link to retrieve it.

How do I delete or remove a match from my list of matches?

Simply indicate that you're not interested in getting to know them at the bottom of their profile and they will no longer appear in your compatibles list.

What's the difference between being "compatible" and being a "match"?

A "match" is made when both users have clicked "interested" on each other's profile. The moment this happens, Eligon notifies both members. "Compatibles" are members who we feel are the most compatible to you based on our careful screening; according to our unique questionnaire that checks preferences, personality and similar values. This adds to the assurance of long term success with a particular compatible prospect.

My profile changes are not reflected, how come ?

In order to sustain a professional level among the community we evaluate the input members provide on their profile. Each profile should reflect enough information to give an insight to other members about your personality. Profile approvals can take up to 1-2 business days and you will be sent an email notification when this takes place.

How do I upload an additional photo?

We highly recommend that you upload more photos than the 1 required. In order to do this, please go to the profile editing and click on "Images". If you are logged in you are able to click here and you will be taken there directly.

What is the difference between "anonymous" and "letting someone know" that I am interested in them?

When you let someone know that you are interested in them they will receive a messsage that someone is interested,where as, when you let them know it will display your name and they will know who it is. When two people indicate interest towards each other, regardless of the anonymity, a match will be created and the two of you will be notified.

Changes I make to my profile don't get updated, how come ?

Eligon operates differently in a sense that changes that you make to your profile are verified by our team to ensure that the content is appropriate and consistent with your professional image.

This will take affect until the account is considered trusted and once the changes are approved you will receive a notification to your email and they will be reflected on your profile.

I cannot change my marital status, how come ?

In order to make sure that users do not change their marital status often, which we believe is misleading, we do not allow you to make these changes after you finish the registration process.

If you would still like to modify it, please contact our Technical Support team and they will have these changes saved to your account.

I would like to discontinue automatic membership renewals, how should I go about that?

If you would like to disable the automatic membership renewal function simply contact our customer service department via phone at 905 605 1589 and we will be glad to take care of this for you. Please note that we require a minimum of 24 hours notice prior to the expiration of your membership.

How do I remove my profile?

We are sorry to hear that you would like to have your profile removed. If you are a registering member you will need to go here. Where as if you are an active and exisitng member you will need to go to the settings page inside the Members-Area which can be found here and click on Profile.
