Dear Eligon Members,

Outside of our constant subtle modifications, Eligon is undergoing major changes, in order to improve our clients experience and continue being recognized as the brand of choice among single professionals.

Since the beginning of Eligon’s creation our objective was to create a community for members to feel comfortable at, secure, private and in-essence ideal to fulfill the need to seek a like-minded partner and we are happy to look back at our history of accomplishments.

The challenges that we were initially facing, as a private and exclusive community, were the means by which we were advertise our services and bringing new visitors, which were later further screened, to the site and eventually to the pool of potential Compatibles.

The costs for our initial advertising channels were high and this reflected in the prices that our members were charged.

Majority, if not all, of the revenues were going towards these channels which slowly, although being effective, proved to be expensive means.

With that being said we are happy to announce that Eligon’s continued efforts will be built on more effective available channels of advertising while making the transition from our previous sources.

Eligon is now adapting to changing online world and these channels, being already in motion, will include, but not limited to, Search Engine Optimization (free), Social-Media (free) and word-of-mouth referrals (free) and as a result of our strategy our clients will be able to continue enjoying our services at a lower cost.

Our new objective is to further grow the community and become the leading choice among professionals in the world, with Canada being our current dominant focus.

We thank all those that supported us from the beginning of time, those that continue to support us and those individuals that will become our new supporters in what will become the new Eligon.

Eligon has become more than we could image and we are extremely honoured being part of.

Kind Regards,

Alexander Ratz & Boris Giller

Eligon Co-Founders

There is a certain level of anonymity on the internet that makes it very comfortable for even honest people to lie. We have all heard about people misrepresenting themselves on online dating websites. Fake internet profiles have become a cliché for numerous Hollywood comedies. People lie about their age, marital status and level of income. Posting outdated, PhotoShopped or fake photographs has become today’s standard in online dating. This phenomenon has caused frustration, mistrust and heartache and forced many singles away from the online dating world. And yet, no dating website has yet to combat internet deception.

Why doesn’t the online dating industry battle this phenomenon?

It’s simple, fighting misrepresentation is not profitable. Additional security costs and closing the doors to a large portion of your clientele would create huge losses for these corporations. All online dating websites focus on large quantities of members. In an ideal world, online dating would be a perfect solution for today’s busy, career-oriented singles. But that would be the case only if dating sites verified the identity of their members, if there were consequences to lying on your profile, and if they screened their members to prevent disappointments right at the registration stage.

The first website in the world that screens and verifies their members was born right here in Canada, in fact, a group of entrepreneurs from Toronto are taking the first step in creating improved online dating. After a year of research and development they’ve completed Eligon.ca, a private single’s community for executives and high-profile professionals. You apply to this website with a resume, sign a legal agreement stating that all the information you’ve given is true, and give consent to ID verification. At this point they screen their members according to a formula that evaluates eligibility by: level of management, education and, of course, income. If an applicant is accepted, they verify his or her details with a non invasive ID report from a credit agency alongside other security measures.Alexander Ratz, one of the founders, says “These methods are as close to perfect as we can get, as we aren’t able to physically see our applicants – but we are doing as much as possible with the means we have available to us today.”
The bad news is that this service is offered to Ontario’s elite only, but plans are in place to launch a Canada wide website by August 2009.
Applying to this club does not cost money. If you are an executive looking for love you can try your luck here.
Could this be the beginning of a new generation of online dating? For now, all others have to settle for regular dating websites and hope that soon enough all other sites follow Eligon’s lead.

Many changes are taking place during the recession: social, economic and psychological.
People are losing their jobs, cutting down their expenses and changing their whole lifestyles.

But how does the recession affect the dating game?

Traditional dating is expensive and time consuming, a fact that drives more and more singles to online dating websites. Major dating sites and matchmaking agencies report a significant boost of interest in their services during these tough economic times.

Successful and educated singles have always looked to dating within their socioeconomic sphere – a fact that became even truer during the recession.
The flock of unemployed singles to dating websites creates a problem for executives who are in short supply on these sites. It leaves a large population of successful singles unable to use these services.

One of the best examples of this change is Eligon.ca, an exclusive and discrete dating community for executives. Established here in our community, a Canadian company is the first to recognize this neglected group of people and offer an elegant solution: a perfect hybrid between an expensive matchmaking agency and inexpensive online dating site. Eligon.ca offers single executives the best of both worlds: a large number of singles matched by an affordable price just like any other dating site, but with the privacy and exclusivity of a high-end matchmaking agency.

But eligon.ca does not accept everyone. To become a member of this exclusive club, one must first apply with their resume and declare that all of the information provided is true. After submitting your application you must wait 24 hours, and then it is manually evaluated according to; education, level of income, and level of management. And if that is not sufficient your identification will be verified with TransUnion credit reports as well as other methods.
Alexander Ratz, one of the founders, says they’ve developed their own unique compatibility formula with the help of a psychotherapist and a relationship counselor. This formula is based on common sense and matches people according to similar values and preferences in addition to a simple computerization of traditional matchmaking practices.

“From research and surveys we have done we realize that our members are looking for different features to evaluate potential mates slightly differently than the rest of the population, and they expect a much higher level of design and usability. I believe that we’ve created this site to perfectly cater to the professional’s needs and wants when it comes to dating,” says Alexander.

Are you a successful single looking to date in your socioeconomic sphere? Visit this executive dating website to apply free of charge.

The rich and fabulous always had their exclusive country clubs. Now they’re looking for love on the internet.

Ever since man learned to quantify value in money, blue blood social clubs have existed. Those with money and power liked to be with others who also had money and power. The wealthy are usually intensely private and try to avoid social climbers, especially when it comes to their love life.

An entire population of CEOs, doctors lawyers and other high profile professionals are staying away from public dating websites to avoid encountering their co-workers, patients or clients, and an altogether lack of likeminded individuals often found on these sites.

Everyday public dating websites, who prefer quantity over quality, do not suit this portion of the population by their very definition: public.

This vacuum gave rise to eligon.ca, derived from the Latin word ‘eligo’, which means ‘selected.’ This club was created by a Canadian company operating in Ontario, to best cater exclusively to the rich and educated.

Call it eHarmony for the rich: it’s an online dating website that screens its members according to education and income. Alexander Ratz, one of the founders says “We are not snobby, we just want our members to be compatible. Wealthy and educated people are their match and we’re just here to provide the place for them to meet most comfortably.”

Right at the start, from the Homepage, a velvet rope and bouncer atmosphere presides. The registration process to this site is different than that of others. A member must first apply, providing his employment and education information, agree to verification, and declare that they are who they say they are with a legal statement. If a member is admitted for having a high enough level of education, income and management position, he or she is then required to build a profile and pay a membership fee that is slightly higher than the average on the market.

“Getting the rich to mingle online is not an easy job” says Alexander “we had to build a completely new kind of a website to suit people of this caliber. A series of security measures takes place to secure the privacy of the information and once you’re in, you experience a different kind of a dating site, one that is suited for people that expect and want more.”

Worried you won’t get in? An invitation from a friend who is a member might help.
If this sounds like something that would help you find your elite match visit their executive dating site to learn more about eligibility

Alexander Ratz, one of the founders, says the idea came while overhearing a conversation between the management at his previous employment. A group of powerful women were sitting around a lunch table sharing horror stories of online dating, from married guys, to criminals; they all hoped for a change in the online dating world that would bring safety and security. Thinking to himself “what if there were a better kind of dating site, one that screens members, one that verifies the truthfulness of the information on people’s profiles and one that punishes abusive behaviors and lying on your profile or posting fake photographs.” Alexander says that after a few interviews and conversations about the subject, he realized that doctors, CEOs, lawyers and other wealthy people in managerial positions wanted, but were afraid to use, public dating websites where they could be seen by their employees, patients or clients. “We understood that single people in top positions were looking for other single people of their status and level of education and had great difficulty using conventional methods. The problem become even more evident for powerful women who were searching for someone who had attained an equal level of management and income, to avoid male ego problems,” says Alexander, laughing.
A year later, after extensive research and development, Alexander and his partner established Eligon.ca, an exclusive and discrete online dating website for the professional elite.
For now the company only offers service in Ontario, with plans to go national by August 2009. Alexander says this population was neglected for a long time, leaving them to either risk their privacy on public dating websites or pay thousands of dollars to expensive matchmaking agencies with a minimal selection of eligible singles to choose from.
They’ve developed a unique screening and verification mechanism. Every member that applies to eligon provides information about their education and employment, signs a legal agreement stating that all the information they’ve provided is true, and agrees to a non-invasive ID verification with a credit agency.
“We also realized that our target audience had different wants, habits and expectations from a dating platform – with an emphasis on security and privacy,” says Alexander. An example of Eligon’s strict privacy practices is that members’ profiles and information are only revealed to other registered members of the desired sex. “We have carefully planned the environment differently from other dating websites, providing a more pleasant experience, a feeling of safety and overall better results achieved by our unique compatibility formula.” This formula, developed with the help of a psychotherapist and a relationship counselor, consists of two parts: the first evaluates core beliefs and values that are a common source of conflict among married couples; and, the second is a computerization of traditional matchmaking practices providing a perfect hybrid of common sense and experience, as they proudly state on their website.
Visit their website to learn more about applying for a membership and eligibility criteria.

How do executives date in this day and age? They don’t have time for traditional dating or disappointing blind dates. And, office romances have become nearly impossible in today’s working environment. Doctors, Lawyers, CEOs and Professors can’t use regular dating websites because they don’t want to inadvertently meet patients, clients, employees or students. As the most desirable singles, these professionals often have the biggest problem finding the perfect mates. The only reasonable option they’ve had, so far, was to pay thousands of dollars to high-end matchmaking agencies to find them a mate of their status and similar mindset.

A group of Canadian entrepreneurs from Toronto, an upcoming financial capital, have recognized this need and have now come up with a revolutionary idea for a dating website: An exclusive and discrete online dating website for executives only.

The registration to this club is very unique. It begins with providing a resume, agreeing to a non-invasive background check and signing a legal agreement. Then, each application is manually evaluated based on: education, seniority, level of management and, of course, income. If applicants qualify, they get past the golden gates, and are required to pay a membership fee that is slightly higher than average.

Alexander Ratz, Director of Operation and a co-founder, says “We charge a bit more than other websites because we have a tougher job. We have to have twice as much security and we cater to a much smaller market. But we focus on quality instead of quantity.”
“And, we’ve developed a unique compatibility formula,” Alexander adds. “We created this formula with the help of Beth Mares, a psychotherapist and a relationship counselor for over 20 years.”

Says Alexander: “We researched what issues usually lead to fighting in marriages and try to avoid them at the introduction stage. We have also computerized traditional matchmaking practices and come up with a new kind of a compatibility formula that actually works.”

For now, Eligon.ca remains a Toronto based service – but plans are in place to go national by the end of August, 2009.
If you are an executive in search of love, visit this website HERE to see if you qualify.
As Eligon.ca proudly proclaims: “Most of the members on this website have never been members of other sites,” an important fact that makes Eligon.ca the only place to meet this caliber of people – aside from a boardroom.

P.S
it’s free to apply

Can a computer program think like a human matchmaker when deciding on who’s right for you? We think so.

A couple of months back I was really Inspired by Google’s ability to automate human evaluation of relevancy with their algorithms. We studied how matchmaking agencies operated, what procedures and techniques they use, how a person evaluates whether he or she is interested in another person and realized that all of it can be automated. Intuition actually played a smaller role in matchmaking than advertised. We had one missing piece in the recipe of this digital love potion. We needed to understand what makes for a really great, stable and happy couple. We tapped into the knowledge of an experienced relationship counselor who seen it all. We analyzed factors for compatible and incompatible couples to take that into consideration when making introductions.

A computer has advantages over a human matchmaker in the sense that it is able to collect sensitive and intimate information and take that into consideration when matching two people together. The reason for that is, that no judging human eye ever see’s what people fill out in their formula wizard, allowing them to be honest and open. These sensitive issues are the most important factors when determining compatibility otherwise it’s a shot in the dark.

It’s been only two weeks and we’re already seeing some media attention. Our main goal so far is to establish a large membership base in Ontario, that’s why we’ve decided to give free 1 month memberships until June 31st. This is the stage where we make the best product as a business, and our product is not the very elaborate system or the formula or the website. Our product is the quality of the members, a decent amount of members in your area, and good selection, everything else is overrated.

Unlike many of our competitors, we view matchmaking logically and do not use pseudo-psychological profiles and obscure questioners to match our members. Eligon’s mission is to offer our professional and educated clientele a personalized service and expertise of the highest caliber.

In order to create an effective formula, we analyzed the logic behind traditional matchmaking practices and combined it with practical knowledge of relationship experts. Our questioner was compiled with the help of Toronto’s top relationship counselor and psychotherapist, Beth Mares. This comprehensive list of questions helps us create an individual profile of core relationship values for each user.

These values and beliefs are known to be the most common sources of conflict among married couples. Proximity between two individual profiles forms one of the key components of the compatibility formula. By adding ‘mutual interest’ and ‘proximity’ into the compatibility equation we came up with an ideal automation of matchmaking logic.

Public Dating Websites

Additionally, our exclusive and thorough screening procedures ensure that the matches presented to our members have a real potential to become their worthy counterparts. Unlike public dating websites, Eligon is able to guarantee the authenticity of every user profile because we carefully examine every membership application.

Eligon Screening Advantage

At eligon.ca we take the quality over quantity approach, thus it is more important to present you with fewer close possible matches, than with a higher number of remote probable matches. False profiles are eliminated at the registration stage, while the rest are evaluated on employment and education criteria. This specialized approach enables us to provide you with significantly more relevant options.

Don’t we stress the fact that we VERIFY ID enough? I mean we say we’ll check on the homepage, we say we’ll check on the registration page itself, every article about eligon.ca in the press mentions the fact that we check ID. What makes people ignore all those?

I can only think of two reasons:

a. People just click “Apply” before reading “A few things you must know first”
b. People think that we won’t catch them

We are forced to reject more than 30% of the applications because they contain inaccurate or intentionally misleading details, most common one is Age. It’s unpleasant to have to reject that many applications, but then again I can’t even imagine the amount of fake profiles on anonymous websites where no one checks. No wonder fake online dating profiles became a cliché and a repeated joke for Hollywood comedies
