I mean we say we’ll check on the homepage, we say we’ll check on the registration page itself, every article about eligon.ca in the press mentions the fact that we check ID. What makes people ignore all those?

I can only think of two reasons:

a. People just click “Apply” before reading “A few things you must know first”
b. People think that we won’t catch them

We are forced to reject more than 30% of the applications because they contain inaccurate or intentionally misleading details, most common one is Age. It’s unpleasant to have to reject that many applications, but then again I can’t even imagine the amount of fake profiles on anonymous websites where no one checks. No wonder fake online dating profiles became a cliché and a repeated joke for Hollywood comedies

Unlike many of our competitors, we view matchmaking logically and do not use pseudo-psychological profiles and obscure questioners to match our members. Eligon’s mission is to offer our professional and educated clientele a personalized service and expertise of the highest caliber.

In order to create an effective formula, we analyzed the logic behind traditional matchmaking practices and combined it with practical knowledge of relationship experts. Our questioner was compiled with the help of Toronto’s top relationship counselor and psychotherapist, Beth Mares. This comprehensive list of questions helps us create an individual profile of core relationship values for each user.

These values and beliefs are known to be the most common sources of conflict among married couples. Proximity between two individual profiles forms one of the key components of the compatibility formula. By adding ‘mutual interest’ and ‘proximity’ into the compatibility equation we came up with an ideal automation of matchmaking logic.

Public Dating Websites

Additionally, our exclusive and thorough screening procedures ensure that the matches presented to our members have a real potential to become their worthy counterparts. Unlike public dating websites, Eligon is able to guarantee the authenticity of every user profile because we carefully examine every membership application.

Eligon Screening Advantage

At eligon.ca we take the quality over quantity approach, thus it is more important to present you with fewer close possible matches, than with a higher number of remote probable matches. False profiles are eliminated at the registration stage, while the rest are evaluated on employment and education criteria. This specialized approach enables us to provide you with significantly more relevant options.

It’s been only two weeks and we’re already seeing some media attention. Our main goal so far is to establish a large membership base in Ontario, that’s why we’ve decided to give free 1 month memberships until June 31st. This is the stage where we make the best product as a business, and our product is not the very elaborate system or the formula or the website. Our product is the quality of the members, a decent amount of members in your area, and good selection, everything else is overrated.

Can a computer program think like a human matchmaker when deciding on who’s right for you? We think so.

A couple of months back I was really Inspired by Google’s ability to automate human evaluation of relevancy with their algorithms. We studied how matchmaking agencies operated, what procedures and techniques they use, how a person evaluates whether he or she is interested in another person and realized that all of it can be automated. Intuition actually played a smaller role in matchmaking than advertised. We had one missing piece in the recipe of this digital love potion. We needed to understand what makes for a really great, stable and happy couple. We tapped into the knowledge of an experienced relationship counselor who seen it all. We analyzed factors for compatible and incompatible couples to take that into consideration when making introductions.

A computer has advantages over a human matchmaker in the sense that it is able to collect sensitive and intimate information and take that into consideration when matching two people together. The reason for that is, that no judging human eye ever see’s what people fill out in their formula wizard, allowing them to be honest and open. These sensitive issues are the most important factors when determining compatibility otherwise it’s a shot in the dark.
